From Tough Reforms to Eurozone Membership: Latvia’s Road to Growth

Event Description

From Tough Reforms to Eurozone Membership:

Latvia’s Road to Growth

6 December 2012, 10:00-12:45

Stanhope Hotel, Rue du Commerce 9, Brussels

As Europe continues to struggle through a debilitating economic and financial crisis, it is important to highlight those Member States which have successfully begun the process of recovery and charted a course for economic growth. The Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are good examples to consider. Latvia is steadily reducing its budget deficit and is on track to join the euro zone in 2014, while Lithuania and Estonia have returned to strong economic growth since the height of their crises in 2009.

In order to further the discussion of Europe’s economic recovery, and to highlight proven best practices, the Centre for European Studies (CES) will host an event in Brussels featuring Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis on Thursday the 6th of December 2012 from 10:00 until 12:45. Prime Minister Dombrovskis will deliver an introductory keynote address, after which he will be joined in a panel discussion by key members of the European Parliament.

Lunch will be provided immediately following the event. To see the latest programme, please click here. Please confirm your attendance to Bernada Cunj at bc@thinkingeurope.eu by the 3rd of December.

We look forward to seeing you on the 6th of December!
