BelgiumEvent Description
The Digital Democracy Day 2016 will take place on Tuesday 18 October at the representation of Saxony-Anhalt to the EU, Boulevard St. Michel 80, 1040, Brussels.
The increasingly importance of Internet and Web 2.0 technologies have started to stimulate a serious discussion on the democratic potential of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in reducing the gap between the political elites and citizens.
In a Europe where traditional political participation is in decline, citizens are using alternative methods to engage in the public life. The conference will explore, through the voices of experts on the subject, what are the prospects, possibilities and challenges of digital democracy in Europe.
More specifically, the conference will explore:
- Future E-Participation tools and methods in the EU: What possibilities for Crowdsourcing?
- Youth E-Participation: Engaging Digital Natives in Policy-Making
- E-Participation and Political Parties: Connecting Citizens to Politicians
