Energy Storage Europe is pleased to announce the webinar “When the Wind Stops and the Sun Sets: Is Europe Ready for Multi-Hour and Multi-Day Energy Stress?”
As Europe’s energy system becomes increasingly reliant on renewable generation, prolonged periods of low wind and solar output, known as Dunkelflaute events, are raising important questions about system adequacy and security of supply.
This webinar will explore whether Europe’s current market and regulatory framework provides the right signals and incentives to deploy long-duration energy storage (LDES) at the scale needed to support a resilient and decarbonised power system. Discussions will focus on the implementation of the Electricity Market Design (EMD) Reform, the review of the European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA) methodology, and the future of EU energy security policies.
Building on the joint industry letter published in January 2026 calling for a framework to procure LDES, the event will bring together stakeholders to discuss practical solutions, market design, and the future role of long-duration storage in Europe’s clean energy transition.
