Four live days of healthcare innovation with opportunities to network and engage in intriguing conversations

Event Description

EIT Health’s 2020 Summit Series is bringing the worlds of business, research, education and healthcare together virtually to discuss some of the most critical topics in healthcare innovation to help improve lives across Europe.

This year we will explore how healthcare can transition to meet the needs of patients and citizens through High Value Care (HVC), how we can realise the full potential and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and, we discuss the urgent need for business models that enable innovation to thrive. You will also have the chance to explore the latest innovations during our Meet the Innovators sessions.

The Summit Series closes with our EIT Health Catapult Final and awards ceremony, where the most exciting and promising BioTech, MedTech and Digital Health start-ups will compete before a jury of experts, industry leaders and investors.

The Summit Series will be held 24 November – 3 December, with four live sessions taking place each Tuesday and Thursday.

Action happens when we connect. We all have a desire to improve healthcare. So get involved in the conversation, sharpen your focus and help contribute to solving some of the biggest healthcare challenges we’re facing right now.

Agenda:

24 November – Implementing AI in health: Success beyond the buzzword

Join us in conversation with Mayo Clinic Platforms President, John Halamka and leading medical futurist, Bertalan Meskó, to address the opportunities AI presents for the healthcare field, and consider the challenges impeding its widespread adoption.

Speakers:

  • John Halamka, President, Mayo Clinic Platform
  • Bertalan Mesko, Director, The Medical Futurist Institute

26 November – High-Value Care: Evidence-based transformation in patient care

Healthcare systems are struggling under growing demand for their services. But the solution cannot be more treatment, we must refocus on measuring the right outcomes and evolve the healthcare service so we can deliver better health. Only when a patient’s health is improved can we define this as a valuable delivery of health care. This ideal is known as High Value Care (HVC).

Speakers:

  • Christina Åkerman, Affiliate Faculty, Dell Medical School
  • Celine Carrera, Director of Education, EIT Health
  • Pieter de Bey, Director, Santeon
  • Jan Hazelzet, Professor Health Care Quality & Outcome of Erasmus MC, Erasmus MC
  • Henk Veeze, Senior International Medical Director, Diabeter Nederland

1 December – New Business Models: Meet consumer demands and remain competitive

Scientific and technological breakthroughs require systems that can keep up with the pace of change. Policymakers, payers, providers and suppliers need to urgently rethink how they work if we are to help innovation thrive.

We bring together leaders from across healthcare to present exciting new models and approaches, and debate how healthcare can keep up with the pace of change.

Speakers:

  • Kristina Lagerstedt, CEO, 1928 Diagnostics
  • Gottfried Ludewig, Director General, Digitalisation and Innovation, German Federal Ministry of Health
  • Ariel Stern, Associate Professor, Harvard Business School

3 December – EIT Health Catapult Final

About EIT Health

Europe faces a turning point in health. An ageing population, the rising burden of chronic disease, and growing multi-morbidity are all placing pressure on health systems across Europe.

EIT Health is a vast, vibrant community of world leading health innovators backed by the European Union. Working across borders, our network connects approximately 150 world-class partner organisations, as well as entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs from the worlds of business, research, education and healthcare delivery. Our aim is to answer the biggest health challenges Europe faces and we believe that life changing innovation happens when these three worlds meet and collaborate. That’s why we call this the 'knowledge triangle’.

From our headquarters in Munich and six regional Innovation Hubs and InnoStars cluster, we provide an ecosystem in which fresh thinking can thrive. Our Regional Innovation Scheme further expands our presence in 13 countries across Central, Eastern and Southern Europe. EIT Health also leads the development of the EIT Hub in Israel, which connects innovators across Europe to other key thriving ecosystems beyond the EU.

Our ambition is to enable people in Europe to live longer, healthier lives by transforming businesses, products and services that progress healthcare in Europe and strengthen our economy.
