What we will talk about:
Join us in the European Parliament for a discussion on Inclusive Procurement and how the EU can help ethnic minority owned businesses break through barriers they face to participating in public and private supply chains.
Europe is increasingly diverse, with around 10% of the population being from a non-white ethnic minority. This growing representation of people coming from different races and ethnicities is making an increasingly vital contribution to the EU economy though entrepreneurship. Research indicates there are at least 800,000 ethnic minority owned businesses in eight EU countries, employing at least 2.7 million people with a combined turnover of at least €570 billion.
Despite this contribution, ethnic minority entrepreneurs face disadvantages which hamper their ability to participate in public and private supply chains, including discrimination and disconnection from mainstream business networks. Addressing these barriers requires collaboration all along the supply chain, including steps to work towards this greater inclusion by policymakers, industry leaders, ethnic minority entrepreneurs, and consumers.
Hosted in partnership with MEP João Albuquerque, Equipping Europe: Driving inclusive procurement and empowering ethnic minority entrepreneurs, will take place on 27 June from 15.00-17.00, in the European Parliament, room ASP 1G369.
