European Heroes - General de Gaulle
Section
Event Description
80 years ago, speaking from the BBC in London, General de Gaulle called on the free French to keep the resistance to fascism alive and by doing so to protect the honour and the soul of the French nation at that time in mortal danger following the capitulation of the French Government to Nazi Germany.

Today we as citizens call on each other to save the honour of Europe.
To save our freedoms in Europe, to save our democracy, to save our identity.
To mark the 80th anniversary of De Gaulle's 'Appel' and the seventh anniversary of New Europeans we are asking citizens to answer our #CalltoEurope.
In 400 words, tell us what you can do to save Europe.
Write your 'Appel' to Europe.
Better still, record it on a short video and send it to us at this address:
This is a moment of deep crisis in Europe.
And so ask what you can do for Europe - not what Europe can do for you.
