Event Description
At its General Affairs meetings, the Council deals with subjects that cover numerous EU policy areas, such as negotiations on EU enlargement, preparation of the Union's multi-annual budgetary outlook or institutional and administrative issues. It coordinates the preparation and follow-up of European Council meetings.
It also exercises a role in coordinating work on different policy areas carried out by the Council's other configurations, and handles any matters entrusted to it by the European Council.
The General Affairs Council typically meets once a month and Member States are represented by either their Minister of Foreign or European Affairs.
Presidency briefing, agenda and background note will be published on the Council website closer to the date of the meeting.
