Event Description
The Conference will focus on how small and medium enterprises can tap into the potential of Building Information Modelling (BIM). It will present several aspects of this innovative process: its latest developments, the aspects related to the training needs of construction entrepreneurs, its application to public procurement, small buildings renovation and retrofitting projects.
What is BIM?
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is transforming the way buildings are designed to perform throughout their entire life cycle. BIM uses digital model tools to integrate all the information related to a construction project from its design phase to the management years after the construction.
It allows any aspect of a design’s performance to be simulated and assessed before it is built, making the understanding of the design easier and more complete. BIM is not simply the use of 3D software, but is a process that facilitates the sharing of information among all the professionals involved throughout the whole construction project.
Around one hundred participants, including entrepreneurs, European Institutions’ officials and stakeholders from the construction sector, are expected. The Conference will be interpreted in English, French, Italian and Spanish and will be followed by a networking lunch.
When: 24 June 2016 – from 9.00 to 13.00
Where: Room JDE51 - European Economic and Social Committee (rue Belliard 99, 1040 Brussels)
Hashtag: #EBC_Congress
