Event Description
A light and sound installation
As part of the Value of MedTech Initiative MedTech Europe is delighted to announce its next event – The Standing Men: Technologies for Life, taking place on the European Parliament Esplanade from 10-13 October 2016. This unique art exhibit is a light and sound art installation created by the French artistic team AADN, comprising of Pierre Amoudruz, Valentin Durif, Victor Roux and David Guerra. The installation is made possible with AADN working closely with MedTech Europe and EU40.
During the display 16 life-like models will be placed in front of the European Parliament and activated to speak and interact with audiences on the Esplanade. The models are designed to voice the personal and professional views of Members and of the European Parliament, officials from the EU institutions, patients and other stakeholders. These testimonies highlight the deepest thoughts of policymakers and stakeholders on life, aspirations and the future of healthcare. Furthermore the art installation underlines the importance of the value of life.
“I’m excited and eager to invite you to the next MedTech Europe event on the European Parliament Esplanade in Brussels! This is part of our objective to promote the value of our Medical Technologies. Bringing together people and medtech to save and transform lives is the cornerstone of our industry. I hope this exhibit gives us the chance to engage, discuss and demonstrate how medical technologies can help strengthen our health and healthcare systems. We look forward to welcoming you at this very unique event, a first in Healthcare!.” Serge Bernasconi, CEO of MedTech Europe, EDMA and Eucomed.
Similar to last year, the MedTech Europe team will be present on the Esplanade from 10-13 October hosting activities in a marquis next to the art installation. This will provide an opportunity to discuss topics such as the socio-economic value of medtech, medtech helping to manage chronic conditions and the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
Join the discussion on the Esplanade to hear the stories of The Standing Men.
