Young Innovators and Entrepreneurs across Europe meet in Brussels for 2 days of inspiration and action to make Europe more innovative and entrepreneurial
Brussels, 4 June 2013. The European Young Innovators Forum (EYIF) convenes innovative and entrepreneurial youth from across Europe to the second edition of the Young Innovators Unconvention.
The Unconvention is a two-day event dedicated to inspiring innovation among European youth. It brings together young people with innovative ideas and leading personalities who will guide and support them: entrepreneurs, businesspeople, investors, experts, opinion leaders and policy makers, joining forces to stimulate innovation among young people in Europe. "It is not just another technology conference, nor is it only a policy or business event", said EYIF President Kumardev Chatterjee. "It is all three at the same time, and that's what makes the Unconvention unique."
This year the Unconvention will focus on Open & Big Data, Smart Cities, Satellite-Enabled Services and Digital Social Innovation. It will feature inspiring keynotes, interactive sessions, technical workshops, the InnoPitch European Young Innovator of the Year awards, networking lunches and cocktails, as well as opportunities to engage directly and informally with leaders of innovation and entrepreneurship from Europe and the USA.
Keynote speakers and panelists include André BOUFFIOUX, CEO of Siemens BeLux, Elena BRYAN, U.S. Trade Representative, Carlos ESPINAL, Partner of Seedcamp, Anne GLOVER, Chief Executive of Amadeus Venture Capital, Derek HOLT, Director of Startup America, Harri KOPONEN, COO of Rovio Entertainment (creator of the best-selling game Angry Birds), Jack LANG, co-founder and Chair of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Tiit PAANANEN, CEO of Skype Estonia, Gavin STARKS, CEO of the Open Data Institute, Harry VAN DORENMALEN, Chair of IBM Europe, as well as representatives of the European Parliament, European Investment Fund, World Economic Forum, and many others.

An existing literature agrees that drug innovation has a significant average effect on extending longevity and improving quality of life. Recognizing the life-saving benefits from the development of new drugs, one of the key decisions faced by the authorities is how to bolster pharmaceutical innovation, and how to bear in mind the potential effects on drug innovation of policies that affect market size, such as policies towards intellectual property rights, procurement mechanisms and competition policy.
