Why Europe needs a strategy for heat? What is in the Green Paper 2030 for heat? How important is heating and cooling for the incoming Lithuanian EU Presidency?
The seminar organised by COGEN Europe and Euroheat & Power in cooperation with the Heat Coalition[1] will provide a fresh look at energy efficiency and costs. The objective is to initiate a debate on a new, cost-effective and realistic vision for decarbonising the energy sector. Heat represents 45% of the final energy consumption and according to latest academic research, the European Union can save at least 100 billion EUR by reorganising its heating and cooling supply[2]. Speakers will discuss how to exploit these opportunities to deliver affordable comfort, faster decarbonisation and more reliable energy for citizens.
Date: Thursday 27 June 2013
Place: Committee of the Regions, Room JDE 51, Rue Belliard 99-101, 1040 Brussels
Time: 8:30-13:00
Agenda: The programme of the event can be accessed here.
Registration: In order to attend the joint seminar, please create an account on the EUSEW website and register here
The Heat Coalition gathers 11 organisations at EU level with a stake in the heating and cooling sector. We believe that the future energy system must be smart, highly integrated and multidirectional, where supply and end-use technologies will work as one. Addressing heating and cooling will close an important gap in the exploration of optimum decarbonisation routes and is key to EU meeting its long term GHG emission reduction commitment.
