Event Description

Objective

This annual conference will provide practitioners with in-depth analysis and high-level debate on the latest developments in the field of EU and world trade law. The main focus of this year’s event will be the new legal framework to better enforce EU rights under international trade agreements, recently approved by the European Parliament and by the EU Council. This should give the EU a framework to react swiftly and effectively to make sure that EU businesses benefit from the trade agreements and to allow for a more effective EU response to illegal measures taken by trading partners. The most recent WTO and EU jurisprudence, as well as the results of the application of the new Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP), will also be analysed.

Key topics

The new legal framework to better enforce EU rights under international trade agreements
  • Trade sanction adoption under the new streamlined procedure
  • The outcome of the new system of GSP - in application since 1 January 2014
  • The Transatlantic Trade and Investment artnership (TTIP) and EU-US trade talks
  • Investor-state dispute settlement: EU and the new UN Convention

Who should attend?

Lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, civil servants and other practitioners dealing with trade law.
