Event Description

Besides a wide-ranging reform of the regulatory landscape for the banking, investment and insurance sectors, the European institutions responded to the financial crisis by launching an in-depth discussion on strengthening corporate governance standards at EU level.
The European Commission’s Green Papers on corporate governance in financial institutions and remuneration policies and on the EU corporate governance framework aimed at proposing coherent European measures to improve firms’ internal governance regimes and to better protect shareholders against excessive risk-taking.
With its most recent consultation on European company law, the Commission is considering to harmonise the rules relating to company law and corporate governance as well as to accounting and auditing.
This seminar will clarify how the above-mentioned initiatives are intertwined with the latest legislative proposals on capital requirements and risk management in the banking and insurance sector.
