09:15 – 10:30 –Session I: CO2 Emissions from Road Transport – Impact of EC Proposals on Battery Development & Manufacturing
The European Commission published on 8 November 2017 the second part of its Mobility Package, after the publication of the first part in May last year. The most relevant proposal included in the package is related to the CO2 targets for cars and vans for 2025 and 2030, which are likely to drive the further development of vehicles in the next decade. In May 2018, the European Commission will present its 3rd mobility package with the possibility of a proposal for CO2 emission reduction in Heavy-Duty Vehicles. The session will discuss impacts of both proposals for the battery and automotive industries.

An alliance was launched in October last year, and work was carried out with involvement of industry and Member States to identify policy and non-policy measures that would bring Europe closer to its ambition. One important aspect that will be addressed as part of the Battery Alliance is continued Research & Development of batteries for the hybridization and electrification of transport and energy storage.
