Keeping the internet and Users Safer Online
Event Description
Hot take, or hate speech? Religious speech or incitement to violence? Tackling harmful content online has never been more vital, or more complex. Debating Europe and Google invite you to join the conversation on fighting toxic content across Europe, from extremism to hate speech.
We’ll hear from tech executives, policymakers and experts about what works (and what doesn’t), the latest developments and how to make the internet safer for everyone. We will ask, what is the role of legal and regulatory instruments? How effective is AI? And what are the challenges of moderating user-generated content at scale?
Join Google Vice President for Trust & Safety Kristie Canegallo and others for a discussion on how online toxic content is recognized and dealt with, as well as long-term solutions to problems such as hate speech and extremism. And because theory is nothing without practical experience, you can also take part in collaborative ‘You Decide’ sessions, and try your hand at locating, moderating and deciding on the removal of illegal and harmful content.
At the heart of global, European and national efforts to tackle hate speech and the like, there are fundamental questions about what is acceptable online. We want to hear your answers.
