Event Description
Funding from the EU’s 7th Framework Programme enabled the establishment of the Cooperation on European Research in Economics (COEURE) network which seeks to establish an Agenda for Research Funding for Economics in Europe. The work programme is being delivered in three steps: the identification, through state of the art surveys, of key open research questions along with suggested directions for research on these areas that can better address the policy challenges facing Europe; examination of the efficacy of funding mechanisms for economic research to date and the identification of ways in which such mechanisms might be made more effective; and the formulation of the Agenda using the insights gleaned from the first two stages of the work programme.
A workshop is being held on June 29th which will focus on the work from the second element of the project. It will include: presentations on the analysis of research funding mechanisms, insights from stakeholders on the operation of these mechanisms, and a facilitated brainstorming session on key issues to be addressed in framing a forward looking Agenda for Research Funding for Economics in Europe.”.
