Event Description
One of the Europe 2020 goals is achieving a 75% employment rate for the working-age population. Nevertheless, according to Eurostat data, more than 4 million young people aged 15-24 in the EU are unemployed, meaning one in five young Europeans on the labour market cannot find a job.
The EU has launched the Youth Guarantee in order to tackle the problem of youth unemployment, and to ensure that no young person is left unemployed or inactive for longer than 4 months. Besides the Youth Guarantee, as a structural reform, there are many initiatives and programmes contributing to solving youth unemployment in the public and private sectors. In Croatia, according to Eurostat data the youth unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2016 was almost 39%.
