Why?
To bring research, industry, and standardization communities closer together, the European Commission, represented by the Joint Research Centre, together with the European Standardization Organizations CEN and CENELEC and the European Commission Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs have launched the 'Putting Science into Standards' initiative. As part of this initiative, workshops are held to facilitate screening of emerging science and technology areas to identify those where concerted research and standardization activities are required to enable innovation and promote industrial competitiveness.
This workshop focuses on quantum technologies and is organised with the support of ETSI and Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. Since many quantum technology areas are advancing on the technology readiness level scale, it is important to prepare the field for standardization activities, helping to facilitate and accelerate market uptake of quantum technology.
What?
This workshop will provide:
- an overview on how standardization will benefit your work
- what standardizers can do for you, using a practical example of an emerging key enabling technology.
With your active involvement the workshop will develop a roadmap of the most pressing technology fields where standardization can support the deployment of quantum technologies in industrial applications including for security, sensing, imaging and measurement.
