Power Plant 2.0 – a guide to electrify in harmony with nature

Event Description
On 13 June from 09.30 to 12.30, Eurelectric will open its office doors in Brussels (Gare Centrale) to unveil Power Plant 2.0 - a first-of-a-kind industry-led guidebook on how to deploy renewables and grid infrastructure while protecting biodiversity.
WWF confirms that a renewable-led decarbonisation can lower risks to biodiversity by 75%. Europe's power sector can play a leading role by jointly tackling the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Our new study – developed by WSP and based on a survey with 25 developers – presents 12 biodiversity principles and 15 real-life case studies to show how solar, wind, hydro and grid projects can benefit nature by integrating biodiversity-friendly practices while keeping a competitive business case. Our aim is to inspire a biodiversity integration approach that could become mainstream across economic sectors.
The event welcomes high-level policymakers, NGOs, and industry leaders such as:
- Tina Seršen – State Secretary at Ministry of the Environment, Climate & Energy of the Republic of Slovenia
- Humberto Delgado Rosa – Director for Biodiversity at the European Commission’s DG Environment
- Noor Yafai – Europe Director, Global Policy and Institutional Partnerships at The Nature Conservancy
- Bruce Douglas – CEO at the Global Renewables Alliance
- Andrew Allan – Lead Offshore Environment Manager at SSE Renewables
- Philippa Nuttall – Editor of Sustainable Views at Financial Times
