Event Description

The Regulation No 1025/2012 on European standardization applied from 1 January 2013. In June 2011, the EU Commission had published the Communication COM (2011) 311 final “A strategic vision for European standards: Moving forward to enhance and accelerate the sustainable growth of the European economy by 2020". Together they form the “Standardizations Package” which regulates the public private partnership between the European Union and the standardization organizations.

Looking back on the first year of implementing the Regulation, we take a look at what has been achieved. Did the provisions help to increase transparency, stakeholder involvement and speed up the standardization process? Do innovators use standardization as an instrument to speed up market access? What are the success stories and what are the issues?
