The Stockholm programme will come to an end on 31 December 2014. In line with article 68 of the TFEU, the European Council will have to put forward strategic guidelines to follow on from this programme.

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) is holding the event, ‘Violent Extremism in Europe: New and Emerging Threats and Responses’ on Friday 21st of March from 10:00-17:00 in Brussels, Belgium.
Hosted by the Belgian Federal Ministry of the Interior, this event will explore new threats and challenges facing Europe, from the rise of the far right to the threat posed by returning foreign fighters, and examine new and innovative ways in which member States can work together to enhance existing to counter violent extremism in Europe.
The event will mark the culmination of a major cross-border research project financed by the European Commission to exchange best practises and lessons learned in countering violent extremism in Europe. This event will include a keynote address by the European Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstrom.
