About this course
A sophisticated understanding of the procedures of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the CJEU’s practices and case law is quintessential to successfully litigate before the Court. During the seminar you will learn the insights and actions to be entertained before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Enhance your knowledge on the CJEU, the procedures before the CJEU, its internal rules, language regime, handling of documents, appeals and interim measures.
What will you learn?
- The online course will focus on the various actions entertained before the Court of Justice of the European Union, analysing the preliminary references coming from national courts and the direct actions before the CJEU, in particular, annulment actions where private parties may challenge EU law. The seminar will also tackle the infringement procedures commenced by the European Commission when it is of the belief that a Member State has breached one of its obligations under EU law.
- The online course will give guidance to the participants on how to present legal arguments during the written and the oral phase of the proceedings. Through the detailed discussion of the Rules of Procedure of the Court of Justice and the General Court, answers will be given to various procedural matters i.e.. submissions, interim measure, appeals which may be relevant during the action. The language regime at Court will be discussed in full.
- Participants will have the opportunity to participate in an online visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union and meet some of the professionals working at the institution
Course methodology
The online course will be delivered by means of live streaming via ZOOM.
The online course sessions will be conducted by experts providing a presentation on key topics, illustrated with examples and cases from litigation practice. All sessions will be followed by Q&A periods allowing for the exchange of ideas and discussion periods where participants will have the possibility to share professional experiences.
Moreover, the online course will feature a virtual visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union and a meeting with some of the professionals working at the institution.
