ALDE Party Liberal Breakfast on connection between rule of law and economic recovery
Section
Event Description
ALDE Party and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) and are hosting the next Liberal Breakfast to discuss the implications of rule of law breaches on EU’s economic recovery after COVID-19 on 13 October at 9:30 CEST.
Throughout the pandemic we have seen an increase in breaches of rule of law such as corruption, both politically and economically, threats to judicial independence, and limitations to media freedom. This issues not only has a consequence on the economic response to the pandemic but on the protection of human rights and democratic norms. This Liberal Breakfast will explore the effects of these breaches on the economic recovery of the EU after the COVID-19 crisis as well as lessons learned and possible steps to tackle these issues.
Join us to debate on how the EU and its Member States can work together to confront these challenges and guarantee that EU treaties are respected and upheld, while ensuring an economic recovery that is fair for all!
