Event Description
MEP Antonio López-Istúriz cordially invites you to this debate on the role of think tanks and how they influence policy making in the European Union, with the support of the Wilfred Martens Centre for European Studies.
FROM LAB TO LAW:
Advocacy and the impact of think-tanks in EU policy making
As the European Union in general and the European Parliament in particular have been acquiring more policy-making powers during the recent years, the think tank landscape in Brussels has also been evolving and expanding. In this context, how can European policy-makers, including members of the European Parliament, make the most out of the research and policy recommendations put forward by different think tanks?
Parallel to that, and taking into account some of the more recent populist tendencies in the European Union, should think tanks be more involved in explaining and communicating European Union policy output to the wider European public?
