Event Description

Austria will be the hottest spot in the minerals and mining world this September! Top political and business decision-makers and leading academics will congregate in Leoben, Austria, for the EUMICON 2012 European Mineral Resources Conference, to be held from 19–21 September 2012.

Strategies for a sustainable European mineral resources sector will be debated at the 3-day conference. Keynote speakers include European Commissioner for Industry & Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani, Physics Nobel Laureate Johannes Bednorz, OPEC Secretary-General Abdalla Salem El-Badri, top executives of multinational companies, and leading academics and representatives of European trade associations.

A number of panels and workshops will discuss the central challenges facing the mineral resources sector today. EUMICON aims to act as a “think tank” that will explore new approaches, away from day-to-day work distractions. Delegates will join forces with leading experts to advance the debate on European raw materials. EUMICON 2012 will make a major contribution towards framing future resources policies.

Venue in the heart of Europe
Located in the very heart of Europe, Leoben will be the centre of attention in the mineral resources sector this autumn. Good flight connections to Vienna and Graz will facilitate travel to EUMICON 2012. The conference is organised by the Austrian Mining & Steel Association, a member organisation of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and of Eurometaux.
