DRIVING INNOVATION FOR MEDIA: ENSURING MEDIA PLURALISM & PROMOTING TRUSTED JOURNALISM IN DEMOCRACY

Every year, the Future Media Lab. hosts a conference in Brussels that brings together representatives from the media, technology and policy fields to discuss the future of Europe's media sector. This year, the conference activities will span two days: 2 May and 3 May. The main conference will be organised together with the European Commission on 2 May. The following day, the Future Media Lab. will be hosting a workshop session on the Future of Quality Journalism in the Digital Age as part of the "Difference Day" conference, which is a yearly event in Brussels on World Press Freedom Day. EVENT DESCRIPTION
The 7th Future Media Lab. conference will take place on 2-3 May 2017 in the Panoramic Hall at The Square in Brussels. This conference, titled “Driving Innovation for Media: Ensuring media pluralism and promoting trusted journalism in democracy“, is being organised in cooperation with the European Commissionas a follow-up to First Vice-President Timmermans' 2016 Colloquium on Media Pluralism and Democracy. The event will gather a variety of stakeholders, including media professionals, media start-ups, innovation partners, and policymakers, to discuss how media innovation and technological developments can promote media diversity and trusted journalism in Europe.
It will bring together approximately 150 media representatives, start-ups, policymakers and tech providers to talk about how media innovation can help ensure media pluralism and promote trusted journalism in democracy.
