Event Description

Participants to the IRU/EU Conference in Brussels will have the opportunity to see two new electric vehicles outside the Bibliothèque Solvay on next week.

After 2 years of virtual editions, the IRU/EU Conference will take place next week in a hybrid format at the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels. This year’s Conference will focus on Fit for 55, the EU's ambitious goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

On this special occasion, IRU members IVECO and Scania have agreed to showcase their new electric vehicles for a greener future.

Between 15:30 and 17:00, participants will be able to admire the innovative design of IVECO’s new E-WAY. With its stainless steel structure, this electric city bus combines high quality, customisability and accessibility. It even won an award for product design at the DNA Paris Design Awards 2021.

Later, from 17:30 to 21:00, the venue’s driveway will welcome Scania’s new electric truck. Powered by Lithium Ions batteries, this new truck delivers substantial power and instant torque over distances up to 250 km. Scania has already partnered with specialized companies for the repurposing or recycling of used batteries.

Bringing together EU decision makers, mobility and logistics leaders, and representatives from the industry and non-governmental organisations, the event will discuss two key questions.

The first high-level panel will debate the EU’s readiness to roll out alternative fuels infrastructures, while second panel will look into the need for incentives to support the industry’s transition, with great attention to taxation and charges, in light of the recent dramatic increase in fuel prices.

If you have not done so yet, you can register here to take part in the Conference and have the opportunity to see the solutions of the road transport industry for a greener future.
