This course will help you understand how the EU institutions prepare, adopt, execute and discharge an EU budget. You receive a clear and concise explanation of the budgetary principles, procedures and the roles of the different actors involved, as well as an insight into the political dimensions of the budget process and of the inter-institutional tensions which arise. At the end of this course you will have a clear picture of:
- the key issues and dynamics in annual budget negotiations
- the main provisions of the MFF 2014-2020
- the debate on new own resources for the EU
- the key issues for a post-2020 MFF
