ABOUT THE EVENT
The upcoming US presidential election will not only significantly influence the United States but also extend its effects to the European Union. The election's outcome will have profound implications for the global economy, climate policies, social movements, and geopolitical dynamics. The transatlantic trade relationship, which surged to an impressive volume of nearly 1.3 billion US dollars in 2022, deserves special consideration.
Against this backdrop, our luncheon discussion event will specifically focus on the impact on transatlantic and international trade. We aim to address fundamental questions: How will US trade policy shape transatlantic relations post-election? How do Democrats and Republicans diverge in their approaches to the future trade relationship with China? Additionally, we will explore cooperative efforts between the EU and the US in tackling challenges within the WTO.
This discussion offers an opportunity to assess the potential impact on US-EU economic relations and deliberate on possible solutions for future transatlantic trade issues.
The event will take place under Chatham House Rule.
