Event Description
In March every year, the Florence School of Regulation Communications & Media (FSR C&M), Centre for Media Pluralism and Freedom (CMPF) and Florence Competition Programme (FCP) organise jointly the Annual Scientific Seminar on Media and the Digital Economy. Since its first edition, the Seminar (which was formerly known as the Annual Scientific Seminar on The Economics, Law and Policy of Communications and Media), has brought together a great number of scholars from all over the world and featured many prominent keynote speakers in the fields of social sciences, economics, law and media, as well as practitioners.
During the 8th edition, which took place on 22-23 March 2018, an international community of scholars discussed a wide variety of issues concerning Competition, Regulation and Pluralism in the Online World. During the two days, altogether 16 papers were presented in three plenary and four parallel sessions. Notably, the Seminar featured Professor Hal Varian’s keynote speech on Artificial Intelligence and Economics of Industrial Organisation. The European Competition and Regulatory Law Review (CoRe) was a media partner of the Seminar and as part of the collaboration, we have published together this Special Issue featuring some of the most distinguished papers from the event.
KEYNOTE
This year’s keynote speech Data Standardisation: Implications for Enforcement and Competition will be provided by Daniel Rubinfeld, Professor of Law, NYU School of Law, Emeritus Professor of Law and Economics, UC Berkeley.
Registrations close March 15 and places are limited.
