Healthcare provision in times of armed conflict: What have we learned from the last European conflict in ex-Yugoslavia?
Section
Event Description
Dear friends and colleagues,
The war in Ukraine is urging us to reflect on how armed conflict affects the health of all those involved. From the challenge of providing immediate medical aid to those injured by the hostilities to ensuring continuity of care for chronic disease patients; from containing the spread of infectious diseases to ensuring access to healthcare for displaced people – the devastating impact of war on healthcare systems is dramatic.
In the context of the European Public Health Week, this webinar organised by the European Health Forum Gastein in collaboration with the South-eastern Europe Health Network will consider the health-related challenges of the current conflict in Ukraine, through the lens of those who have experienced armed conflict in the recent past – communities in the Balkans.
Webinar speakers will include:
- Jarno Habicht, WHO Representative and Head of Country Office in Ukraine
- Goran Čerkez, Assistant Minister, Federal Ministry of Health, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Biljana Lakić, Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, Ministry of Health and Civil Affairs, Republic of Srpska
- Moderators:
Mira Jovanovski Dašić, Head, South-eastern Europe Health Network Secretariat
Dorli Kahr-Gottlieb, Secretary General, European Health Forum Gastein - Further speakers tbc
If you have any questions for the speakers, ask them during the event via the webinar Q&A function, submit them during the registration process, or email us in advance at info@ehfg.org.
We look forward to seeing you there!
With best wishes,
Your EHFG Team
