Pandemic Perceptions: Communicating the importance of flu vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic
Section
Event Description
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, influenza vaccination has demonstrated its great value to public health as an essential measure to protect vulnerable groups and national healthcare systems from added pressure. Despite this however, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to increase vaccine uptake across Europe, to ensure we recover from this pandemic and continue to protect more Europeans from Influenza in the future.
This webinar, hosted by flu champion MEP Dolors Montserrat (EPP, Spain), will provide recent research findings on public perceptions of flu during the COVID-19 pandemic, and debate how efficient communication - by policy makers in particular - can help raise awareness and spread knowledge about the importance of flu vaccination to protect EU citizens.
The discussion during the event will cover:
• On-the-ground experiences with public perceptions of flu vaccination during COVID-19;
• Presentation of findings comparing public perceptions of flu and COVID-19 vaccines in 7 European countries by Prof. Frederic Bouder from the University of Stavanger;*
• How policy makers can use their leadership status to positively communicate on flu vaccination and encourage greater uptake to protect citizens
Organised with the support of Seqirus.
