The World Anew. The 7th edition of the European Forum for New Ideas will be held on 27-29 September in Sopot
This autumn Sopot will become the centre of an exceptional international debate for the seventh time. Most influential leaders from business, politics and academia will be interfacing global challenges with new ideas to set the path for future answers. This year, we will ask whether globalisation reached its peak? Will international business cooperate to overcome disintegration trends? Is the truth still relevant? What is the impact of social media and fake news on democracy, politics and society? Is populism a cynical demagogy or does it uncover real needs? Will GDP give way to the happiness index?
Top European decision makers will debate on the “new European landscape” emerging in the wake of the elections in the Netherlands, France and Germany - in the year that marks the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. Panellists will debate also whether the trends of “social Europe” and “innovative Europe” can be reconciled, and whether Brexit is a harbinger of further breakdown in the EU. Besides major business trends, such as digitalization, robotization, ecology and circular economy, experts will also discuss issues such as cybersecurity, smart cities and investing in good ideas, in times of uncertainty and a rapidly changing reality. “Each year, thanks to EFNI, we are able to hold lively discussions among the most outstanding experts regarding new ideas and how we should react to the changing reality – in Poland, Europe and the world. I am pleased that Sopot will once again become the centre of this important debate”, said Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Polish Confederation Lewiatan.
EFNI is an international congress which annually attracts top experts from various fields and countries, who exchange ideas on the future of Europe and its economies from a broad, global perspective. The conference has been organized since 2011 by the Polish Confederation Lewiatan in cooperation with BusinessEurope, the city of Sopot, as well as Polish and foreign companies and organizations.
The detailed programme of sessions, special debates and accompanying events, as well as the list of EFNI 2017 panellists and attendees are available at www.efni.pl
