Event Description
Quarries are often seen only through the lens of extraction. Yet across Europe, many have become valuable habitats through rehabilitation for protected and endangered species.
This webinar is organised as an official EU Green Week partner event, highlighting the role of cement industry in supporting biodiversity and nature restoration across Europe.
Since the publication of its Biodiversity Roadmap, the European cement sector has further stepped up its efforts to protect and restore biodiversity at quarry sites, working with scientists, NGOs and local communities to track progress and improve conservation outcomes.
This webinar will explore how these initiatives contribute to protecting Europe's specifies and habitats while demonstrating how industry can play a constructive role in contributing to a nature-positive economy.
Speakers from the European Commission, civil society and the cement industry will share perspectives on the policy framework, the progress achieved so far and practical examples from quarry sites across Europe.
