With regard to parental responsibility issues a detailed account will be offered of the Brussels IIbis Regulation and its interpretation by the Court of Justice of the European Union. In this context issues on jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of decisions on parental responsibility will be discussed, where case studies will help participants to understand how to administer a case under the Brussels IIbis regime.

Distinguished attention will be paid to child abduction cases and the respective roles and powers of national authorities. An in-depth discussion as how to handle maintenance obligation claims in cross border family cases will also be provided with reference to EU and international instruments.
