Event Description
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects approximately 40 million people across Europe, causes over 330,000 deaths each year and costs the EU economy an estimated EUR 164 billion annually1. Yet, up to 70-90% of cases remain undiagnosed2.
On 1 July from 14:00–15:30, MEP Nikos Papandreou (S&D, Greece) will convene a high-level, non-promotional roundtable in the European Parliament, bringing together policymakers, patient representatives and leading healthcare professionals to examine why COPD care pathways across Europe remain fragmented, and what coordinated EU action could look like.
The roundtable forms part of a broader push to elevate chronic respiratory diseases on the EU health agenda, building on initiatives such as the Europe Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Safe Hearts Plan. Please register via this link.
