Event Description

This year’s FoodDrinkEurope Congress will take place on 17 & 18 October 2012 at The Square Congress Centre in Brussels. The event marks a special celebratory milestone for FoodDrinkEurope as the organisation celebrates its
30 year anniversary since its creation in Brussels.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Feeding the Recovery’; a particularly relevant topic in light of the current economic downturn. As Europe’s first manufacturing industry, generating €956.2 billion in turnover, the food and drink industry is a significant pillar of the EU economy and can play a vital part in ‘feeding the recovery’ to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in line with
EU 2020 Strategy.

Over two half-days, the Congress will cover a host of interesting debates organised across three pillars of discussion:
  • Driving sustainable economic recovery;
  • Enhancing consumers’ live; and
  • Creating smart, green growth

Each session will feature high-level speakers ranging from European Commissioners and their international counterparts, to industry CEOs, NGO representatives and academia. Senior broadcast journalists will moderate each session including interactive debates with the audience, culminating in a final wrap-up debate.
