Event Description

On 22 September, Germany goes to the polls. But although the country plays a crucial role in the European cooperation – not least in trying to solve the euro crisis – EU topics have hardly been present in the election campaign. The campaign has instead focused on domestic issues such as pensions, statutory minimum wage and childcare benefits.

At this seminar, the German elections will be discussed from a number of angles. The domestic political situation and its influence on the elections and the significance of their outcome will be analysed. The media coverage of the election campaign will also be discussed.
