Event Description

When: Monday, 25 February, 11.30 a.m.

Where: Room ASP 05G02 European Parliament, Brussels

With: Rebbeca Harms (Germany - co-president of the Greens/EFA group), Bart Staes (Belgium) and Carl Schlyter (Sweden - vice-chair of the EP committee on environment, public health and food safety)

Coming ahead of the forthcoming EU Council of Agriculture Minsters (Monday-Tuesday, 25-26 February), the Greens are hosting a press conference to outline a more comprehensive EU response to the ongoing horsemeat scandal.

The discovery of meat from horses and pigs in processed food marketed as beef products, has raised serious questions about the European food supply system. In addition to immediate questions about applicable rules and responsibility for controls and ensuring compliance, there are wider questions both in terms of legislation and the agriculture and food system in Europe.

The press conference will be livestreamed at http://www.greenmediabox.eu/live/pressconference/
