ESWET Webinar: Waste Incineration BREF – One Year Later
Section
Event Description
The Waste Incineration BREF was published in December 2019. One year after its release, why is this document so important, and what is needed to improve its implementation further?
Brussels, 11 March 2021 - The Waste Incineration BREF (WI BREF) is the basis to reassess and update waste incineration plants' environmental permits in Europe. Within four years from the publication date, all the EU plants have to comply with the BREF requirements.
Organised on Friday 19 March at 10 AM (CET), the webinar "Waste Incineration BREF – One Year Later" aims to help the audience fully understand the importance of the WI BREF and its implications in Europe and worldwide.
The program includes three presentations on:
- The WI BREF process and the IED evaluation & revision;
- The current status of WI BAT Conclusion implementation from the operator's perspective;
- The expected impact of the WI BREF on the market and its influence outside Europe.
After the presentations, a panel discussion and Q&A session with the audience will be moderated by Patrick Clerens, ESWET Secretary-General.
The panel hosts three high-level speakers: Anita Matic, Policy Officer at DG Environment of the European Commission; Bettina Kamuk, Global Market Director Waste-to-Energy at the international consultancy Ramboll; and Lighea Speziale, External Advisor Environment for CEWEP, the Confederation of European waste-to-energy plants.
