Event Description

More than ten years ago, the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union generated new momentum in the continent’s fight against cancer. The Council conclusions adopted in 2008 made a distinctively strong case for cancer control in the EU and paved the way for several current EU initiatives, including Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

Notwithstanding the great success of putting integrated strategies for cancer control high on political agendas across Europe, far more needs to be done. Action is required at the local and regional level for successful implementations of measures against the complex group of diseases we refer to as “cancer.”

What have we learned since Slovenia pushed Europe further 13 years ago? Where have cancer control plans worked, and why? Where should be the action points of Council Presidencies, EU institutions, and member states?

Join two outstanding experts in our next Early Bird discussion on cancer control!
