On The Agenda – EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council: What will it cover? When will it start?
Section
Event Description
At a recent virtual meeting between the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and U.S. President Joseph Biden, there was a discussion based on an EU proposal to establish a high-level European-U.S. Trade and Technology Council (TTC).
It will aim to strengthen European and American technological and industrial leadership, develop compatible standards and regulatory approaches for new technologies and promote innovation and fair competition on both sides of the Atlantic.
ELF is glad to organise this timely roundtable with the purpose of discussing the feasibility and the benefits of this future Trade and Technology Council. Will it be able to help reduce trade barriers and maximise opportunities for market-driven transatlantic cooperation? Will the new TTC shift the focus to the protection of critical technologies and supply chain security? Will both sides of the Atlantic be able to collaborate better on issues such as: transfer of technology, export controls, investment screening or IP rights?
Speakers will be announced shortly.
