Event Description
Eurodiaconia is delighted to invite you to our upcoming public event, hosted by Heather Roy (Eurodiaconia’s Secretary General), to discuss how the European Pillar of Social Rights’ Action Plan can support social services in their work to ease access to quality employment for the most vulnerable. We are pleased that Mr. de Manuel (Member of the cabinet of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission), Ms. Jongerius (Member of the European Parliament), Ms. Monaco (European Trade Union Confederation), Mr. Großhaus (Diaconia Germany), Ms. Fenu (Diaconia Spain) and Ms. Van Remoortere (Actiris Inclusive) will participate as speakers.
The reach, capacity and repairing power of social services is limited. For this reason, it should be a priority to take action to boost job quality and fight inequalities in labour markets to address the root causes of unemployment, in-work poverty and social exclusion. These links lie at the heart of the European Pillar of Social Rights and, for this reason, its implementation is crucial to bring quality of employment back at the centre of social market economies. However, to ensure that truly no one is left behind, active outreach measures are needed towards those who are the farthest from the labour market and who struggle with attaining basic skills. Moreover, the Action Plan must be underpinned by strong and consistent anti-discrimination measures, as discrimination is one of the root causes of inequality, poverty and exclusion.
