Climate across the globe is changing faster than at any point in recent history. Variations in temperature, floods, fires, tornadoes and desertification are among the phenomena that increasingly affect people’s lives.

As the changes in climate are felt across all continents, public debate turns to the effects of these changes on human mobility. In 1992, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change declared migration and forced displacement as the single most important consequence of climate change. Today, some newspaper articles are claiming that climate change is going to displace billions of people across the world and are asking the Global North to prepare to welcome mass migrations from the South. What does evidence tell us about how many people are affected by extreme weather conditions and climate change? How many of them get displaced, relocate within their country of birth, or leave for another country? And what are the future scenarios? Join us to tackle these important questions.
