Ireland can take €25m off our EU fines for missing carbon reduction targets

Event Description

This new report will show that the Government could immediately reduce fossil fuel CO2eq emissions from transport by 150,000 tonnes by increasing the ethanol content of petrol. That is the equivalent of taking 50,000 cars off the road.  A simple Ministerial Order can cut EU fines of €25m, involving no cost on the taxpayer, no reduction in exchequer revenue and no cost to motorists.

To find out how this can be achieved you are invited to attend launch of a report by Jim Power Economics “The Role of Ethanol in Ireland’s Climate Action Programme”. In the Merrion Hotel Dublin on July 16, 12:00 to 14:30.

The launch will hear from: Jim Power (economist), Brendan Halligan (President of the Institute of International and European Affairs and Mark Turley), Mark Turley (Chairman and CEO of ClonBio Group) and others discuss the role ethanol can play in Ireland’s climate programme. Attendees will include government officials and advisors, fuel and vehicle sector leaders and climate researchers
