Event Description

Join the Consumer Choice Center for a live discussion on new EU digital regulations and their role in enhancing innovation in the European Union.

In December 2020, the European Commission presented the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA). Both acts intended to shape a new approach to regulating digital platforms. However, it remains unclear whether both acts will manage to effectively safeguard competition and consumer choice.

  • Is there a need to advocate for more convergent statutory obligations or a better alignment among the respective legislations?
  • Is there a specific need for competition agencies to have access to privacy expertise under the tight timeline of competition assessment of mergers?
  • Is there a need to create a new Digital market system in Europe that would involve the use of antitrust law against the so-called Big Tech?
