ALDE has invited Syrian eye witnesses who have recently fled from Aleppo along with a prominent Lebanese politician (Ahmad El-Hariri) to Strasbourg this week, to give first hand account of what is happening inside the country and the effects of the humanitarian crisis is having on the immediate neighbours. This will coincide with the debate regarding Syria in Plenary with the EU High Representative on Tuesday.

with Guy Verhofstadt and two Syrian eye witnesses - Mr Rami Al Jarrah and Mr Deiaa Aldeen Doghmugh as well as Ahmad El-Hariri, Leader of the political party "future of Lebanon"

For the last 18 months ALDE has been calling for international intervention to ease the humanitarian crisis facing Syrian refugees. There is no immediate end in sight to the violence, nor any hope to resolve this conflict. We cannot wait in the sidelines until the Assad regime is toppled before we act. How bad does it have to get before we do something, another thousand, ten thousand, a million persons fleeing? At what moment will the international community come to the aid of these persecuted Syrians?

L'ADLE a invité des témoins syriens qui ont récemment fui Alep ainsi qu'un éminent politicien libanais (Ahmad El-Hariri) à Strasbourg cette semaine, afin de rendre compte directement de ce qui se passe à l'intérieur du pays et des effets que la crise humanitaire provoque chez les voisins proches. Cela coïncidera avec le débat en plénière sur la Syrie, mardi, en présence de la Haute Représentante de l'Union européenne.

Au cours des 18 derniers mois, l'ADLE a réclamé une intervention internationale afin d'apaiser la crise humanitaire qui frappe les réfugiés syriens. La violence n'est pas près de s'arrêter et il n'y a aucun espoir de résoudre ce conflit. Nous ne pouvons pas attendre en spectateurs jusqu'à ce que le régime d'Assad soit renversé pour agir. Jusqu'à quel point la situation doit-elle empirer avant que nous n'entreprenions quelque chose, mille, dix mille, un million d'autres personnes qui fuient le pays ? A quel moment la communauté internationale va-t-elle venir en aide à ces Syriens persécutés?
