Event Description

The Technical University of Košice (Slovakia) invites to the 8th edition of the European Commission’s Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE) from 28th to 30th June 2017. The Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE) is from 2010 the main European policy forum for innovation and regional development.

 

Mission of WIRE 2017

To stimulate socially responsible research and innovation of digitalisation for regional development and to understand its societal impact using synergies between different EU policies to support economic, social and territorial cohesion. In other words: To understand and stimulate the positive societal and economic impact of digital R&I on EU regions and its people and on building a creative, social and trusted region.

 

Key themes of the event:

  • Societal impact - Social innovation, socially responsible innovation, societal impact, regional and social disparities, rural, poverty, inclusive society, trust.
  • Digital - Digitalization, new skills, digital automation, jobs and growth, digital public sector innovation, territorial innovation.
  • Creativity - For innovation up-take, science, tochnology & art, creative industry, inspirations, end users experiences.
  • Policy and Financing - Post 2020 agenda, R&I efficiency, regional funding strategies, FP9 vs Cohesion vs S3, territorial innovation, synergies, innovative financing.

 

The focus of WIRE 2017 is built on challenges and societal impact of digitalisation and related R&I in synergy with the character of Kosice city itself, as the city has multicultural experiences as a historical crossroad, ICT and educational excellence, as City of piece’85, European City of Sport’16, European Capital of Culture’13 and in 2017 expected as UNESCO Creative city of media art’17.
