20 years ago, the Rio Summit met to define ways to foster sustainable development and raised lots of hopes all over the world. 20 years on, the strong historical message delivered by the young Severn Suzuki has not been fully heard and much remains to be done to preserve our natural capital.
 

Meeting of the European Council

The European Council brings together the Heads of State or Government of all the EU Member States, i.e. Prime Ministers or Presidents, as well as the President of the European Council and the President of the Commission.
 
The European Council is convened twice every six months, typically in March, June, October and December. However, the President of the European Council can also convene extraordinary meetings.
 

Meeting of General Affairs Council (GAC)

In the General Affairs Council (GAC) the ministers coordinates the preparation of and follow-up on meetings in the European Council and covers dossiers of cross-cutting nature, thus affecting more than one EU policies - including negotiations on EU enlargement, preparation of the EU's multiannual financial frameworks and institutional and administrative matters. The council typically meets once a month and the Member States are represented by either their Minister of Foreign or European Affairs.
